This Chibbles knit jumper from Charl Knitwear draws inspiration from the Norfolk Fishermen’s Gansey jumpers of the 19th and early 20th centuries
It takes its name from Jimmy “Chibbles” Bishop, a Sheringham man who came from a long line of fishermen and whose Gansey was created by Esther Nurse, a much admired knitter.
I love the knitted funnel neck, the flared sleeve and the side splits hem which give this jumper a relaxed and modern feel.
Knitted in 100% traceable British worsted wool, spun in Yorkshire and knitted in Perugia, Italy by a wonderful family run business of largely female craftspeople.
